I. DESCRIPTION

The Doctoral Thesis consists of an original and independent scientific investigation that constitutes, in the opinion of the Thesis Commission, a significant contribution to the discipline in the interface of engineering, biology and medicine. The thesis is a formal document whose purpose is to show the contribution made. Failure to show this contribution implies failing to defend the proposed thesis. In Thesis I, the student will start his research activities according to the work plan programmed and approved in the thesis project.


II. OBJECTIVES
. Start research activities approved in the Thesis Project.
. Follow and/or modify the work plan defined in the Thesis Project.
. Start data collection and processing to give answers to research questions.
. Describe and present the progress made during this academic period by means of a written report.


III. CONTENT

Defined by the student, under the supervision of his Thesis Director. They must be approved by the Candidacy Comission, in the Presentation and Defense of the Thesis Project.


IV. METHODOLOGY

. Indivual supervision sessions with the Thesis Supervisor
. Individual work


V. EVALUATION

At the end of the semester, the student needs to write a final report containing the progress achieved during the semester. It is recommended that the student works on his report throughout the semester. The report is reviewed
and evaluated by the Thesis Supervisor (scale from 1.0 to 7.0).
