I. DESCRIPTION

Develop a research project in the interface of engineering, biology and medicine. This Research Unit must be supervised by an academic and involves a load of 40 credits (experiments, fieldwork, literature review, etc.). The goal is to follow and develop a specific work plan to prepare the Thesis Project based on the research question identified in the Interdisciplinary Research Unit I. The Research Unit includes a Thesis Project and at the end of the semester students must present the project orally in a seminar.


II. OBJECTIVES

General:

. Design a Thesis Project that should include: project formulation, literature discussion, hypothesis, goals, methodology, work plan and expected outcomes.

Specific:

. Formulate a project
. Review relevant literature
. Define the hypothesis of the research project
. Stablish research goals
. Design a work plan
. Define expected outcomes of the Doctoral Thesis

Defined by the Supervising Professor.


IV. METHODOLOGY

. Indivual supervision sessions with the Thesis Supervisor
. Individual work


V. EVALUATION

The evaluation of the research unit should comply with the following criteria:

. Student's evaluation in the laboratory, field and/or office (20%).
. Written Thesis Project (60%).
. Oral presentation of the Thesis Project (20%).
