I.DESCRIPCIÓN DEL CURSO
This course-in a seminar mode- aims at providing different theoretical approaches and tools for the study and analysis of translation, literary, linguistic, discoursal and applied linguistic problem areas worth exploring and doing applied research on. The review of the most recently published literature in these areas will make the student aware of the nature of the problems in each field and will disclose in him/her possibilities of applied research according to his/her interests.
II.RESULTADOS DE APRENDIZAJE
1.To acquire a general view of the most recently published literature and understanding of how linguistic research is carried out.
2.To evaluate critically the reviewed literature and discover relevant problem areas to plan applied research according to teacher/student interests.
3.To select a theoretical approach and apply it to the analysis and interpretation of a relevant problem identified in a corpus gathered.
4.To produce a written research paper containing the theoretical framework used, the analysis and interpretation of the analyzed data and projections in the field of knowledge.
III.CONTENIDOS
The contents will correspond to the topic chosen as the object of study. Some general contents are provided here:
1.Theoretical texts that complement the analysis of the students? chosen corpus in a linguistics discipline.
2.Relevant research methodologies to help the students develop an original research idea and write a paper on the matter.
IV.ESTRATEGIAS METODOLOGICAS
-Lectures.

-Reading and discussion of theoretical and methodological concepts.
-Writing of the research paper sections.
-Individual and group exercises.
