I.DESCRIPCIÓN DEL CURSO

This course corresponds to an elementary level A1 of Spanish according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. In this course the student will be able to understand and use everyday expressions and simple phrases aimed at satisfying immediate type needs. The student will learn how to establish basic interaction in Spanish while learning relevant aspects of the Chilean culture which will be discussed during the class, from an intercultural perspective.


II.RESULTADOS DE APRENDIZAJE

1.To use basic lexical and morphosyntactic structures of Spanish in contexts associated with family, transportation, commerce, and daily interactions at university or work.

2.To express basic information about themselves and the closest environment in relation to academic life and their own daily life.

3.To manage communication strategies for basic and effective interaction according to their closest needs related to the academic field and urban interaction.

4.To apply basic vocabulary related to everyday life trough the practice of oral and written comunication.

5.To recognize cultural uses of interaction as a valuable contribution to effective communication.

1.To Speak about herself/himself and others close to her/him.
1.1.Greetings: formal and informal treatments
1.2.Survival vocabulary at the campus
1.3.Need to know information about public transportation

2.To express will and obligation
2.1.Must go: places to visit in Santiago?s surroundings
2.2.Basic lexicon related to academic life
2.3.Lexicon related to urban interaction

3.To express causal relations
3.1.A walkaround in Santiago?s neighborhoods
3.2.Main cities in Chile
3.3.Food vocabulary


IV.ESTRATEGIAS METODOLOGICAS

-Expositive classes.

-Reading activities for written and oral comprehension and production.

-Discussion of issues related to Chilean culture.


V.ESTRATEGIAS EVALUATIVAS

-Writing and discussion activities: 40%

-Oral presentations: 30%

-Final test of grammar and vocabulary content: 30%
