I.DESCRIPCIÓN DEL CURSO
During this course students will develop an understanding of the basic language, ideas and methods of literary studies. Focusing on literary theory, narrative, drama and poetry, students will be introduced to ideas that form the building blocks of the discipline of literary studies and practice applying those ideas to a series of stimulating set texts.
Assessment will take the form of a series of response papers addressing the four sub-sections of the course alongside a mid-term exam, a final test and a group presentation on a literary movement
II.RESULTADOS DE APRENDIZAJE
1.Apply literary theoretical ideas to creative texts, distinguishing between colloquial and basic academic language to refer to literary texts and expressing opinions and reactions to a literary text using academic language.
2.Produce opinions and reactions to a literary text using academic language.
3.Identify the form, functions and strategies of narrative fiction texts.
4.Analyze dramatic writing and dramatic productions, focusing on the difference and tensions between these elements.
5.Scan poetry and differentiate between different poetic styles and effects analyzing according to poems? language, imagery, meter, form and style.
